Rocker Pete Doherty has failed to attend a court appearance at which he was due to be sentenced for drug offences.

The Babyshambles frontman did not turn up in court today because he has checked himself into rehab.

The case was adjourned until 2 October after West London Magistrates Court was told that Doherty was receiving treatment for his addiction.

Four weeks ago the singer's sentencing was postponed in order to allow him to show his commitment to his detox treatment.

Less than two weeks later Doherty was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs but the case was abandoned after prosecutors failed to bring their case within the 24-hour limit.
