'Prosperity', the new four-part drama series from the makers of the award-winning film 'Adam & Paul', begins on RTÉ Two tonight.

Written by Mark O'Halloran and directed by Lenny Abrahamson, 'Prosperity' follows the lives of four people living on the fringes of the Celtic Tiger.

Episode One focuses on Stacey (Siobhán Shanahan), a 17-year-old single mother who is wasting her time on a pointless relationship.

In the coming weeks we meet 14-year-old Gavin, who is both a bully and bullied, Georgie, who is struggling with a drink problem, and Pala, an African living in Dublin who finds herself increasingly isolated.

Commenting on the series, director Abrahamson said: "We made 'Prosperity' to show that there are people who have been very much left behind by the changes that have happened in Ireland. And we're not saying those changes are all bad - neither of us are that naïve. In many ways they've been fantastic and many people have benefited. But there is a huge section of society that hasn't and they rarely get talked about."

'Prosperity' begins on RTÉ Two tonight at 9.30pm.
