Actress Lindsay Lohan has been sentenced to one day in jail and three years probation after she pleaded no contest to misdemeanor DUI and drug charges on Thursday.

She will not stand trial.

The 21-year-old must also perform 10 days of community service and attend 18 months of an alcohol education program for charges stemming from two arrests in recent months.

Through her lawyer, Lohan pleaded no contest to two counts of driving under the influence, two counts of being under the influence of a controlled substance (cocaine), and reckless driving.

"It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs," Lohan said in a statement after the plea deal was announced.

"Recently, I relapsed and did things for which I am ashamed. I broke the law, and today I took responsibility by pleading guilty to charges in my case. "

Lohan, who shot to fame as a teenager in Disney movies like 'Freaky Friday', was most recently seen in 'Bobby' and 'Just My Luck'.

She is currently at the Cirque Lodge treatment center in Utah where she has been ordered to stay indefinitely.
