'EastEnders' is set for a shocking storyline in which a character is reportedly shot and left for dead.
According to Digital Spy, Jane Beale, who is played by Laurie Brett, is set to be targeted by someone from her husband Ian's past.
The incident comes after Ian (Adam Woodyatt) and his daughter Lucy (Melissa Suffield) begin to receive emails which are signed by Ian's previous wife Cindy, who died while giving birth in prison.
A source told Digital Spy: "The storyline will be massive. We can't wait for everything to come out."
"Cast and crew alike have been sworn to secrecy as to who's sending the messages - and ultimately who pulls the trigger."
"Cindy apparently died in prison during child birth. She can't really still be alive - can she?"
"She's got form and a motive – but there are definitely a few other people who hate Ian, too..." the source said.
An 'EastEnders' spokesperson refused to comment on the storyline, saying: "We never comment on future storylines."
