Opera singer Luciano Pavarotti has been admitted to hospital in Italy, according to a spokesperson for the hospital.
The 71-year-old singer was taken to the hospital in his hometown of Modena for medical checks, the spokesperson said.
Newspaper reports claimed that the star, who underwent an operation to remove a pancreatic tumour last year, was suffering from pneumonia but this was not confirmed.
A hospital spokesperson later said that the singer is now in a "satisfactory condition" and would most likely be discharged within a matter of days.
Pavarotti has not performed in public since he was forced to pull out of his 2006 farewell opera tour.
