Matt Damon, star of the Bourne trilogy, offers the best box-office return on his salary, according to business magazine Forbes.
In the Ultimate Star Payback list, Damon is listed as making $29 at the box office for every $1 he received in salary.
The list was compiled by averaging the stars' salary for their last three films and setting it against the box-office takings.
Under this method, he offers twice the value of Tom Cruise, Will Smith and Tom Hanks.
Due to the success of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise, Depp comes in as the third most-profitable actor, just behind Brad Pitt, and in line with Vince Vaughn.
Jennifer Aniston turns out to be the most profitable woman among Hollywood's A-list actors, with 'The Break-Up' pushing her above Angelina Jolie, Renée Zellwegger and Reese Witherspoon in the rankings.
Damon's latest film, 'The Bourne Ultimatum', opens in Ireland on 17 August.
