British comic Steve Coogan is teaming up with 'Father Ted' director Declan Lowney for a new film about British ski jumper Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards.
Variety reports that the film will tell the story of cult hero Edwards' participation in the 1988 Winter Olympics where he came last in both his ski jump events.
Commenting on the film, Coogan said: "His story is a very British story, and he is a very British kind of hero."
The film will go into production in January.
