Influential Italian film director Michelangelo Antonioni, the director of films including 'Blow-Up' and 'L'Avventura', has died at the age of 94.
According to the ANSA news agency, he died at his home on Monday evening.
Coming to fame in the 1960s and early 70s, Antonioni's career spanned more than six decades and 25 films.
He received two Oscar nominations for 1966's 'Blow-Up'. In 1995 he was awarded an honorary Academy Award for lifetime achievement.
"With Antonioni dies not only one of the greatest directors but also a master of modernity,'' Mayor of Rome Walter Veltroni said in a statement.
