Swedish film director Ingmar Bergman has died at his home at the age of 89.
Swedish news agency TT reported the news, citing the director's daughter Eva Bergman.
Bergman was nominated for nine Oscars during his career in film, which spanned over 60 years.
He was also the recipient of the Irving G Thalberg Memorial Award.
Three of his films were awarded the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
Woody Allen described Bergman as "probably the greatest film artist, all things considered, since the invention of the motion picture camera" at the director's 70th birthday.
Among Bergman's film credits are 'The Seventh Seal', 'Saraband', 'Smiles of a Summer Night', 'Cries & Whispers' and 'Wild Strawberries'.
Bergman was married five times and had eight children.
