'Coronation Street' star Bill Tarmey has said that he was shocked to learn that his on-screen wife was planning to leave the show.
Tarmey, who plays Jack Duckworth in the show, told The Sun that he learned of Liz Dawn's plan to quit when he read it in a newspaper.
The actor said: "Liz hadn’t told me — this came right out of the blue. My contract is due for renewal in August. Whether I will be offered a new one depends on the scriptwriters, the producer and viewers."
"It may be that they will decide that Jack and Vera will sail off into the sunset together. I will just have to wait and see," he said.
However, Tarmey said that he was not bitter about Dawn's decision to leave. "I have always known it will come to an end," he said.
