'American Idol' and 'X Factor' judge Simon Cowell is apparently determined to examine Paula Abdul's new boyfriend - to make sure he is suitable.
The 80s pop star-turned-TV star is dating restaurateur JT Torregiani, but friend Cowell is keen to appraise him - and it is not the first time.
In an interview with World Entertainment News Network she says, "Simon is already calling me and bugging me and saying 'Let me talk to him'. Simon always does this to me."
It has also been revealed in a new poll of US TV's highest-paid stars that Cowell enjoys annual earnings of $45m (€67m).
But Cowell's impressive salary still cannot touch Oprah Winfrey's massive earnings - she remains top of the TV Guide magazine's rich list with a whopping $130m (€193.7m) a year.
