According to its publishers, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' - the seventh and final book in JK Rowling's series about the boy wizard - has become the fastest selling book in history.
In America, Scholastic sold 8.3m copies of the book in its first 24 hours on sale.
British publisher Bloomsbury sold 2.7m books in the UK, making it the quickest seller out of the entire series.
On its first day of release, the previous book, 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince', sold 6.9m copies in the US and 2m in the UK.
Bloomsbury described it as "the most astoundingly successful book launch ever."
