With the last episode of 'The Sopranos' screening on RTÉ Two tonight, it has been announced that star Edie Falco is in talks about joining the cast of a new film called 'Nothing But the Truth'.

Variety reports that actors Alan Alda, Kate Beckinsale, Matt Dillon and Vera Farmiga are also in talks about starring in the media-themed drama.

It tells the story of a newspaper reporter who reveals the identity of a CIA agent and is imprisoned for refusing to name her source.

If the stars sign up for the film, Beckinsale will play the journalist, Dillon the prosecutor, Farmiga the CIA agent, Falco the newspaper editor and Alda the attorney who tries to free the journalist.

The film has been written and will be directed by Rod Lurie, whose other credits include 'The Last Castle' and 'The Contender'.

'Nothing But the Truth' will go into production in the autumn.

The final episode of 'The Sopranos' airs on RTÉ Two tonight at 10pm.
