Robert De Niro, his Tribeca productions partner Jane Rosenthal and Universal Pictures are planning to make a film about the rise of communism in China.
Variety reports that Universal Studios has optioned the rights to Roy Rowan's memoir 'Chasing the Dragon: A Veteran Journalist's Firsthand Account of the 1949 Chinese Revolution'.
The trade daily says that the film will be an epic drama with a love story.
Rowan will act as a consultant on the film but it is not known if De Niro will have a starring role.
