Socialite and reality TV star Nicole Richie yesterday had her trial on charges of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol delayed until 16 August.
Her lawyers argued for the postponement so that a defense expert can challenge evidence in the case.
The co-star of 'The Simple Life' television show was not in court for the brief hearing on Wednesday.
Richie, the daughter of singer Lionel Richie, was arrested on December 11 after she was seen driving the wrong way on a freeway in Los Angeles.
In February she pleaded not guilty to the charge.
