Denzel Washington is to be honoured with the BAFTA/LA Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film in November.
The actor has won two Oscars, one for Best Supporting Actor in 'Glory' (1989) and the other for Best Actor for his role as a corrupt LA policeman in 2001's 'Training Day'.
The Los Angeles branch of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts will be holding the award ceremony later this year in California.
BAFTA/LA Chairman Peter Morris says: "Denzel is a remarkably talented actor who always entertains the audience with the rich array of characters that he has portrayed on screen.
"As both an actor and a director, he continually takes on challenging projects and we are thrilled to honour and celebrate his immense talents."
Washington made his directorial debut with 'Antwone Fisher' in 2002; he is currently helming 'The Great Debaters'.
