Eight years after an acrimonious split, British rock band The Verve have reformed.
According to a statement on lead singer Richard Ashcroft's website, the band - Richard Ashcroft, Nick McCabe, Simon Jones and Pete Salisbury - were recording in a London studio last week.
"After a summer break they will return to the studio to complete their next album," the statement continued.
At the moment there is no word of guitarist/keyboardist Simon Tong, who was last working with the Good, the Bad and the Queen, joining the reunion.
The band, best known for hits such as 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' and 'The Drugs Don't Work', also plans to play six gigs in November in Glasgow, Blackpool and London.
They broke up in 1999 after guitarist McCabe pulled out of some tour dates in Europe and the United States.
