Louis Walsh has said that he is "thrilled" to have been asked to return to 'The X Factor' judging panel.

US choreographer Brian Friedman, who had been drafted in to replace Walsh, will stay on as the creative director of the show.

Speaking about his decision to return to the show, Walsh said: "I had no hesitation in going back."

"They told me 'We'd like to have you back'. We have a chemistry between us, which you can't just get by putting people into a room."

"In spite of all the bantering, I have continued to have a good working relationship with Simon, ITV and the show's producers and I am thrilled to be asked back on the show."

When asked if his initial sacking was a PR stunt, Walsh said: "I swear to God it's not. I suppose if I was looking in from the outside I might think that."

"I went through a lot of stress when I was sacked. In this business you can't take anything for granted."

Choreographer Friedman said: "I'm ecstatic to finally put my true skills to the test. The British public has only seen what I've been able to do from afar through the music videos and stage shows I have worked on."

"Now the public will be able to see direct in their homes what I can do and I couldn't be more pleased."

The judging panel for the new series of the show will now be made up of Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne, Simon Cowell and Dannii Minogue.
