It has been announced that Marc Forster will direct Daniel Craig in the 22nd James Bond film.

Forster has previously directed 'Monster's Ball', 'Finding Neverland' and 'Stranger Than Fiction'; his new film is the big screen adaptation of the Khaled Hosseini bestseller 'The Kite Runner'.

He will begin work shortly with 'Casino Royale' screenwriter Paul Haggis on a draft of the Bond screenplay.

The 22nd Bond film is due to begin shooting in London in December will be released on 7 November 2008.

Commenting, Forster said: "I have always been drawn to different kinds of stories and I have also always been a Bond fan, so it is very exciting to take on this challenge."

He continued: "The new direction that the Bond character has taken offers a director a host of new possibilities and I look forward to working with Daniel Craig, [producers] Barbara Broccoli, and Michael Wilson, as well as the team at Sony and MGM on this new film."
