Makers of Lost discuss the finale

Lost - They do have an ending
Lost - They do have an ending

Two of the makers of 'Lost' have been talking about their plans for the show and how it will end.

The Hollywood Reporter says that at a TV industry conference in New York, executive producer Carlton Cuse and co-creator Damon Lindelof talked about the direction the series would take in the future and revealed that they do have an ending for the show.

With 'Lost' set to end in 2010 after a further 48 episodes, Lindelof said that the hit show had to change its focus from asking more questions to answering the questions raised during the series.

"Obviously, we can't wait to the 48th hour to say, 'Here are all the mysteries of the show,' " he said.

His colleague Cuse said that 'Lost' would not have an open-ended finale.

"We will not be ending with a blackout," he said.

"I'm not sure there is any ending that will satisfy everyone," he continued. "Our hope is that the ending will be... the logical conclusion of the story."

The duo said that in the autumn there would be a series of mobisodes in the US featuring the entire cast and that they would probably appear on ABC.com at a later date.

Cuse said that the mobisodes, approximately 90 seconds each, would give viewers information that they probably wouldn't get on the show and would not be a rehash of TV episodes.

"It needs to be interesting enough and well produced enough that people feel they're getting enough bang for their buck, even if it's free, the bang for their time," said his colleague Lindelof.

Lindelof said that setting up deals for the whole cast for the mobisodes took a long time but the show's makers wanted to make sure they were all involved.

"Nobody wanted to see two people sitting on a beach that we've never heard of talking and saying, 'Hey, did you hear what Jack and Kate did today?' You want to see Jack and Kate. It's taken us three years to get those deals in place," he said.

The fourth series of 'Lost' goes into production in August.
