Jennifer Aniston is to produce a new period musical set in the 1940s, and may also star in the film.
The Hollywood Reporter says that 'Goree Girls' is based on the true story of eight women inmates at Texas' Goree Prison in the 1940s who became one of the first all-female country and western acts in the US.
The trade daily says that Aniston and production partner Kristin Hahn recently optioned the rights to Skip Hollandsworth's May 2003 article from Texas Monthly entitled 'O Sister Where Art Thou?'.
It told the story of the eight women, who were eventually pardoned.
