Brandy, driver sue each other over accident

R&B singer Brandy and a person who was hurt in a December accident which left a mother-of-two dead are suing each other.

The star, whose real name is Brandy Norwood, is facing possible charges of misdemeanour vehicular manslaughter after her Land Rover crashed into Awatef Aboudihaj's Toyota Corolla on the San Diego Freeway in California on 30 December.

She and Mallory Ham filed lawsuits last week, accuse each other of negligence.

Norwood's lawyer Edwin McPherson says, "She's just responding to pieces of litigation as they come in and doesn't want to comment at this time."

Norwood and Ham are both facing civil lawsuits for reckless driving from Aboudihaj's family.

Aboudihaj's parents and her two children also have separate lawsuits pending against Norwood.

According to a spokesman, the city attorney's office is still deciding whether to charge Norwood. If convicted she could face up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
