The eighth series of 'Big Brother' began last night with 11 contestants in an all-girl house.

Host Davina McCall said a man would be moving in on Friday.

The 11 contestants are: identical twins Sam and Amanda (18); retired headhunter Lesley (60); self-proclaimed 'It Girl' Charley (21); cleaner Tracey (36); students Chanelle and Emily (both 19); receptionist Shabnam (22); nanny Laura (23); bank worker Nicky (27) and counsellor Carole (53).

The new series began with an apology over the 'Celebrity Big Brother' race row.

Bookies William Hill put Carole as the 8/1 favourite to win, with Laura at 9/1 and Charley at 25/1.
