Pop star George Michael's sentencing for driving while unfit through drugs has been put back for another week. He will be sentenced on June 8.

The singer was arrested in October of last year after motorists reported a driver slumped over the wheel of a Mercedes at traffic lights in north London.

He admitted the charge at Brent Magistrates Court on 8 May, the first day of his trial, claiming he was guilty due to 'tiredness and prescribed drugs.'

The former Wham! star admitted in court that he was ashamed of his actions.

'I really have been very distressed by this whole thing. I am perfectly aware that I did something very wrong and got into my car when I was unfit to drive.'

A further charge of being in charge of a vehicle while unfit through drugs was dropped.

Since his court appearance, the singer has admitted that he is addicted to prescription drugs and believes that the world would be a better place if more people smoked marijuana.
