'Coronation Street' has swept the board at the British Soap Awards, picking up seven awards, including the coveted Best Soap award.

'EastEnders' only picked up one award, Best Dramatic Performance for Lacey Turner as bad girl Stacey Slater.

'Hollyoaks' claimed three prizes on the night, while 'Emmerdale' and 'Doctors' each took two awards.

Best Actress went to 'Coronation Street's Kate Ford for her portrayal of murderer Tracy Barlow. Her co-star Antony Cotton, who plays factory worker and barman Sean Tully, picked up the award for Best Actor.

Ford said: "I have had the best four years of my life at 'Coronation Street' and I am so grateful for that. I miss everybody."

Cotton said: "I absolutely love 'Coronation Street' so for me to get this is a real treat. I would like to thank the cast and crew, who I absolutely adore, and the magnificent Tony Warren for creating what I think is the greatest show in the world."

'Coronation Street' also picked up the awards for Sexiest Male for Rob James-Collier (Liam Connor), Best Newcomer for Kym Ryder (Michelle Connor), Best Exit for Bill Ward (Charlie Stubbs) and Best Storyline for the plot in which Tracy schemed to kill cheating Charlie.

Best Newcomer Ryder said after her win: "This really does mean an awful lot to me, not coming from an acting background."

The award for Sexiest Female went to Roxanne McKee, who plays Louise Summers in 'Hollyoaks'.

Spectacular Scene of the Year was awarded to 'Emmerdale' for the house collapse storyline. The award for Best Dramatic Performance from a Young Actor or Actress went to Eden Taylor-Draper, who plays Belle Dingle in 'Emmerdale'.

Former 'EastEnders' actress Wendy Richard was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her portrayal of Pauline Fowler.

This was the worst performance for 'EastEnders' in the history of the British Soap Awards.

Lacey Turner, who picked up the show's only award, said: "Obviously we are disappointed. But well done to the soaps that won."

"All the soaps have had a fantastic year this year. You win some, you lose some. You can't win them all."
