The piano that John Lennon wrote peace anthem 'Imagine' on is travelling to the location of last month's Virginia Tech tragedy to promote peace.

The famous piano, which is owned by musician George Michael and his partner Kenny Goss, will be situated in the private garden of Virginia Tech Assistant Professor Charles Litchfield.

This is part of a plan by Michael and Goss plan to have the piano photographed at significant locations world-wide where acts of violence have taken place.

Some of these locations include Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas and the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, where John F Kennedy and Martin Luther King respectively were assassinated; the site of the Oklahoma City bombing; the former Branch Davidian compound Waco, Texas; and Columbine High School.

The piano is also scheduled to travel to Auschwitz and the locations of the 2005 London bombings.

George Michael bought the piano in 2000 for £1.5m, then a record price for a piece of pop memorabilia.
