Following the success of their 'Long Way Round' TV series and book, Ewan McGregor has teamed up once again with his friend Charley Boorman for a new motorcycle odyssey.
The duo will star in the six-part BBC Two documentary series 'Long Way Down', which will follow them as they travel over 15,000 miles from John O'Groats to South Africa.
McGregor and Boorman set off from John O'Groats yesterday and their journey will see them travel through 20 countries over the course of three months.
During their trip they will raise money for Unicef and highlight the problems facing Africa.
Commenting on the new series, McGregor said: "'Long Way Round' changed us all - it bonded us together and made our dreams come true - and it's not often something like that happens. So to be given another opportunity to do something like this is amazing."
'Long Way Down' is scheduled for broadcast on BBC Two this autumn. Viewers can follow the duo's progress and offer travel suggestions and tips to them via the website www.bbc.co.uk/longwaydown.
