Pop singer Lily Allen has sparked concern for her well-being after posting a blog in which she says that she feels "fat and ugly".
The 22-year-old singer previously said that she was proud of her figure and was hailed as a role model for girls because she is not a size zero like many other celebrities.
However, Allen now says that she is not happy with her appearance. In the blog, which she posted on her MySpace page, Allen said: "I used to pride myself on being strong-minded and not being some stupid girl obsessed with the way I look."
"I felt like it didn't matter if I was a bit chubby 'cause I'm not a model, I'm a singer," she wrote.
"I'm afraid I am not strong and have fallen victim to the evil machine. I write to you in a sea of tears from my hotel bed in Seattle. I have spent the past hour researching gastric bypass surgery and laser liposuction."
Hundreds of fans later left messages of support for the singer on the website.
Allen, who recently launched her own clothing range, previously said: "All my dresses are super-girlie but that doesn't mean you have to be a size zero. The more curves the better. Fashion is for everyone, not just super-skinny models."
