Anna Manahan nominated for Drama Desk Award

Acclaimed Irish actress Anna Manahan has been nominated for a Drama Desk Award in New York.

She was shortlisted in the Outstanding Solo Performance category for her dual roles in the City Theatre Dublin production of 'Sisters' by Cork writer Declan Hassett.

Also nominated in the same category were Iris Bahr, for 'Dai (enough)', Ed Harris in 'Wrecks', Capathia Jenkins for '(mis)Understanding Mammy: The Hattie McDaniel Story',
Vanessa Redgrave in 'The Year of Magical Thinking' and Nilaja Sun for 'No Child?'.

Manhattan Theatre Club's production of 'LoveMusik', a musical about the love affair between composer Kurt Weill and singer Lotte Lenya, received 12 nominations.

Three other Broadway musicals, 'Curtains', 'Legally Blonde', and 'Spring Awakening', received 10 nominations each.

The 52nd Annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony will be held at LaGuardia Concert Hall in New York on 20 May.
