U2 frontman Bono will take part in this week's 'American Idol' charity fundraiser.

The anti-poverty campaigner will appear in a prerecorded segment during Wednesday's two-hour special 'Idol Gives Back', talking about how the work of ONE: The Campaign to Make Poverty History and how viewers of the show can help.

The six finalists on the show will perform a song written by Bono and Dave Stewart about the AIDS emergency in Africa titled 'American Prayer'.

Comedian Ellen DeGeneres will host the show from the Disney Hall in Los Angeles.

Other participants include former 'American Idol' contestants Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion, Keira Knightley, Hugh Grant, Josh Groban, Jack Black, Helen Mirren, Rascal Flatts, Quincy Jones, and Annie Lennox.
