American actor Sylvester Stallone has submitted medical documents to customs in Australia after being charged with importing human growth hormone, which is banned in Australia.

Stallone's case was adjourned until 15 May to allow customs to examine the material submitted.

The actor was represented at Downing Local Court in Sydney by barrister John Chicken and did not appear in court for the brief hearing.

The Australian Customs Service is charging Stallone with importing a prohibited import after officers allegedly found 48 vials of prohibited human growth hormone were found in his luggage on 16 February.

If found guilty, he faces a maximum fine of $22,000.
