Scottish actor Joe McFadden is to replace Jonathan Kerrigan as the lead policeman in the next series of ITV show 'Heartbeat.'
The 31-year-old will star as Joe Mason, a policeman who causes a stir in Aidensfield with his individual approach towards crime prevention.
Jonathan Kerrigan, who has starred as Rob Walker for three years and Mark Jordan, who plays Phil Bellamy are leaving the ITV show.
McFadden is best known for roles in BBC dramas 'Sparkhouse' and 'The Crow Road.'
Digitalspy quotes McFadden as saying: "Heartbeat is a great show and I’m really looking forward to playing the new cop."
