Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon, who starred together in 'The Departed', are to team up once again for 'The Fighter', based on the life of boxer 'Irish' Mickey Ward.
Darren Aronofsky, the director of 'Pi', 'Requiem for a Dream' and, most recently, 'The Fountain', is in final talks to direct the film.
Wahlberg has been cast in the role of Ward while and Damon is set to play his older brother and trainer, Dickie Eklund
The film is about Ward's rise to fame, detailing their early days on the rough streets of Lowell, Massachusetts in the 1970s, Eklund's battle with drugs and Ward's eventual world championship in London.
