The creator of 'The West Wing', Aaron Sorkin, is planning to work with The Flaming Lips on a musical based on their 2002 album 'Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots'.

Variety reports that a representative for Sorkin told the trade daily that nothing was confirmed, but that all the parties were interested in working together on the project.

The story first appeared on Entertainment Weekly's website where, commenting on Sorkin's involvement, Flaming Lips singer Wayne Coyne joked: "Maybe that means they'll need to build a stage with lots of hallways on it. It will be a giant tube that's always moving!"

The musical will be directed by Tony Award winner Des McAnuff and the plot is still in development.
