David O'Connor has won the 2006/7 edition of RTÉ's 'You're A Star'.

In the final show at Dublin's Helix tonight, he came out on top, beating the group 21 Demands in the popular vote.

O'Connor sang 'On Borrowed Wings', written by Bryan Adams and Elliot Kennedy, in the final sing-off.

He walks away with a recording contract with Universal Music, a publishing contract with Sony ATV Publishing and €10,000 worth of musical equipment from Roland Ireland.

The 26-year-old is from Wexford and is a former racing jockey. He now works with well known trainer Colin Murphy, whose charges include last year's Cheltenham Champion Hurdler Brave Inca.

'On Borrowed Wings' will be available as a download from Friday 23 March, with a physical release to follow on Friday 30 March.

O'Connor achieved a top 20 hit with 'Don't Look Back In Anger' in this week's charts.
