Patrick Swayze and Melissa Gilbert are to star in a pre-production workshop presentation of 'Prairie', a new musical based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's 'Little House on the Prairie' series of books.
Gilbert grew up playing middle daughter Laura Ingalls in the long-running television series from 1974 to 1983.
Swayze, who was recently seen on the West End in 'Guys and Dolls', will play Pa opposite Gilbert as Ma.
Pulitzer-winner Beth Henley wrote the book for 'Prairie', which has music by Oscar-winning screen composer Rachel Portman and lyrics by Donna DiNovelli.
The story follows a pioneering American family in the late 19th century.
The workshop will run on 16 and 17 April in New York.
