Rapper and founder of Bad Boy Records Sean 'Diddy' Combs is being sued for allegedly punching a man at a Hollywood nightclub.

The suit was filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court with the plaintiff, Gerard Rechnitzer, seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.

An attorney for the music mogul, who was formerly known as P Diddy and Puff Daddy, has denied that he was involved in any such incident, calling the suit "completely baseless."

Rechnitzer claims that he was attacked when he approached Combs while the rap star was talking to Rechnitzer's girlfriend.

In a statement Combs' attorney, Benjamin Brafman, said that the lawsuit was "just another example of an opportunist seeking to fabricate a lawsuit based on a flat-out lie to try to take advantage of Mr Combs' celebrity status."

"Mr Combs did not hit anyone, and Mr Rechnitzer suffered no injuries or damages whatsoever. There is no case. It is that simple," Brafman added.
