'Tulia', the Halle Berry-starring legal drama which was first announced in 2004, is to finally begin production in May.
The Hollywood Reporter says that entertainment giant Lionsgate has resurrected the project, which is based on the true story of the drug arrests of 46 people, almost all of them black, in the Texas town of Tulia in 1999.
No drugs, large amounts of money or illegal weapons were found during the arrests but 38 were later jailed.
Berry will play an attorney fighting to clear the names of those convicted.
The film is based on journalist Nate Blakeslee's book about the scandal,'Tulia: Race, Cocaine, and Corruption in a Small Texas Town'.
Carl Franklin, who directed 'High Crimes' and 'One False Move', is in negotiations to direct the film, which begins production on 1 May in Louisiana.
