Lily Allen has rubbished reports she was photographed in tears because of an argument with fellow British singer Amy Winehouse - she was crying while saying goodbye to her boyfriend.

According to Daily Mirror, the 'Smile' singer also dismisses speculation she was upset at not winning a Brit Award on Wednesday despite being nominated for four awards including Best Female, which went to music rival Amy Winehouse.

Lily Allen says: "The story about me being in tears because I didn't win a Brit or had a fight with Amy is complete rubbish. She and I are friends and we were hanging out at the Brits and at the Oasis party afterwards."

The star added: "I'm very pleased for her. The pictures of me crying were taken when I was saying goodbye to my boyfriend who I haven't seen much of recently. I've been working really hard and travelling a lot and I only got to see him at the Brits so the tears were just because I was leaving to get on yet another plane."
