Human rights group Amnesty International has honoured Jennifer Lopez for her new film, 'Bordertown'.

Set in the Mexican town of Ciudad Juarez, it examines a series of unsolved murders of young factory women.

Lopez plays an American investigative journalist reporting on the serial killings. Antonio Banderas and Martin Sheen also star.

The Hollywood star, who also produces the film, was awarded the Artists for Amnesty award before the film premiere at the Berlin Film Festival on Wednesday.

Lopez said she felt "very humbled" as she was presented the award by East Timor's Prime Minister Jose Ramos-Horta, a Nobel Peace laureate.

Since the murders began in 1993, Amnesty says that more than 400 young women have died, many after being kidnapped and raped.
