Police in the US have released the tape of the 911 call made by security staff seeking medical help for model Anna Nicole Smith when she was found unconscious at her hotel room last week.

Smith was not breathing when security staff at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino entered her room.

A female officer from Seminole Police said in the call: "If you could please respond to the Hard Rock room 607, it's going to be in reference to a white female."

"She's not breathing and she's not responsive... she's actually Anna Nicole Smith."

Police said that officials arrived at the hotel six minutes after the call was made and that the television star was pronounced dead an hour later at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.

According to US reports, the sister of Smith's partner Howard K Stern said that the model had been feeling unwell before her death and was running a high temperature.
