Frankie Laine, the veteran singer who was one of the most popular singers of the late 1940s and 1950s, has died at the age of 93.
His biggest hits were 'Jezebel', 'I Believe', and the theme from TV Western series 'Rawhide'.
In a career that spanned four decades, Laine had 21 gold records, selling about 250 million albums.
"He was one of the greatest singers, one of the last Italian crooner types," said his producer Jimmy Marino.
Last year, at the age of 92, Laine made what was his last public performance, singing his first big hit, "That's My Desire', on a public television special.
In 1953 his version of 'I Believe' topped the British charts for a record 18 weeks in a year when two of his other songs, 'Hey Joe' and 'Answer Me', were also chart toppers, giving him a total of 27 weeks at Number One.
As well as 'Rawhide', he also sang the theme to Mel Brooks' 1974 parody Western, 'Blazing Saddles'.
