Actor Ryan O'Neal has been arrested after being accused of assaulting his son with a handgun during a fight at his Malibu home.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies went to O'Neal's home at 12:30am on Saturday and determined that he had assaulted his son, Griffin O'Neal, during a dispute.
The 65-year-old actor was accused of assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm. He was taken into custody but released five hours later on bail of $50,000.
Police confirmed that the weapon used in the altercation was a handgun but did not say how many shots had been fired.
According to reports, 42-year-old Griffin O'Neal was not injured in the incident but a 22-year-old female friend was treated at hospital for minor injuries.
