Jennifer Lopez is to release her first Spanish-language album in April.

Billboard reports that 'Como Ama Una Mujer' ('How a Woman Loves') will be released on 3 April and was co-written and co-produced by Lopez's husband, Marc Anthony.

Speaking to Billboard about the album, Lopez said: "Emotionally speaking, to me this album is more me than any other album."

As part of the promotion of the record, a deal is being negotiated with the Univision TV network for a five-part miniseries, based on the content of the album.

While Lopez will not act in the series, she will perform a song at the end of each episode.

Lopez also plans to release a new English-language album before the end of the year, with Billboard describing that album as "more urban-leaning".

"I've matured as a singer," Lopez told Billboard. "Marc gave me confidence in the studio as well. When someone believes in you so much, you don't want to let them down."

She continued: "And it's also the material. I think this material lent itself to my voice. And it actually made me approach my new English album in a different way. I have a different standard now."
