The nominations for the Irish Film and Television Awards have been announced, with Neil Jordan's 'Breakfast on Pluto' leading the field with 10 nominations.

'Breakfast on Pluto' is nominated for Best Film while Jordan is nominated for Best Director and co-nominated with author Pat McCabe for Best Script.

The film's star Cillian Murphy is nominated for Best Actor while his co-stars Stephen Rea and Ruth Negga are nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Actress respectively.

There are also nominations for Best Cinematography, Production Design, Costume Design and Hair & Makeup.

Murphy is also nominated for Best Actor for his performance in Ken Loach's Palme D'Or-winning 'The Wind that Shakes the Barley'; the film has received seven nominations in total, including nominations for director Loach and Murphy's co-stars Liam Cunningham, Pádraic Delaney and Orla Fitzgerald.

Pádraic Delaney, Orla Fitzgerald, 'Studs' star Domhnall Gleeson, 'Small Engine Repair' writer-director Niall Heery, 'Middletown' director Brian Kirk and 'The Podge and Rodge Show's Lucy Kennedy are all nominated for the Breakthrough Talent Award.

'Middletown' has received nine nominations, including Best Film, Best Director (Brian Kirk), Best Script (Daragh Carville), Best Actress (Eva Birthistle) and Best Supporting Actor (Gerard McSorley).

Other Irish films to receive multiple nominations are: 'The Tiger's Tail' (seven), 'Small Engine Repair' (five), 'The Front Line' (four), 'Studs' (three) and 'Isolation' (two). 

'The Front Line', 'Middletown', 'Small Engine Repair', 'The Wind that Shakes the Barley' and 'Breakfast on Pluto' are all nominated for Best Film.

The nominations for Best International Film are: 'Babel', 'Casino Royale', 'The Departed', 'Little Miss Sunshine' and 'United 93'.

The public can vote in the Best International Actress category for Penélope Cruz ('Volver'), Eva Green ('Casino Royale'), Helen Mirren ('The Queen') or Kate Winslet ('The Holiday') by visiting www.ifta.ie.
