Former Boyzone and 'Coronation Street' star Keith Duffy has said that he is looking forward to presenting the 'You're A Star' live shows.

He is due to begin presenting the show from The Helix in Dublin this Sunday 14 January.

Speaking about his new role, Duffy said: "I think 'You’re A Star' is a fantastic show. It gives people a brilliant opportunity to showcase their talents and bring them to a national audience."

"It’s a real hit with the public and keeps them on the edge of their seats every week to see who stays and who goes," he said.

"I’m really looking forward to getting started and I’ll be on hand to give my help and advice to all the contestants.’’

This year’s 'You’re A Star' auditions took place in Galway, Cork, Monaghan, Dublin North and Dublin South, with thousands of hopefuls turning up at each venue. A special audition was also held for bands.

Two acts from each location have been chosen by the public to perform at the live shows in The Helix.

The winner of this year's RTÉ 'You're A Star' will walk away with a recording contract with Universal Music, a publishing contract with Sony ATV Publishing, €10,000 worth of musical equipment from Roland Ireland, and a cash prize.
