The only video of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin being stabbed in the chest by a stingray has been given to the television star's wife Terri.
Australian authorities confirmed today that the video was handed to Irwin's wife before Christmas in order to ensure that it is never made public.
Coroner Michael Barnes said that all copies of the video tape, which showed Irwin being fatally attacked by the stingray, were destroyed to ensure that they could not be released at a later date.
A statement said: "The footage has been the subject of widespread media interest and it was wholly appropriate that we took all possible steps to ensure something of such a personal and tragic nature did not fall into the wrong hands."
Terri Irwin previously said that the footage of her husband's death would never be aired.
