A case against filmmaker Michael Moore and his anti-war documentary 'Fahrenheit 9/11' has been dismissed by an American federal judge.

The lawsuit was brought by an Iraq war veteran who claimed he was left with "a loss of reputation, emotional distress, embarrassment, and personal humiliation" after he was featured in the film.

Sgt Peter Damon was looking for $35 million in damages from Moore, as well as several film companies.

In 'Fahrenheit 9/11', Damon is shown lying in a hospital gurney at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Maryland, after he had lost his right arm near the shoulder and much of his left.

In the film Damon talks about the painkillers he has been given. In the court case, he claimed that he was made to look like he was "voicing a complaint about the war effort," while he was actually articulating "the excruciating type of pain."
