Christina Ricci apologised for wearing fur after fans reacted badly when she made Peta’s top five worst dressed celebrities of 2006 list last month.
The star’s fashion choice led to her fansite being closed in protest.
Now the actress has been quoted by the British Daily Mirror as saying: "I never meant to hurt or anger anyone with my insensitivity.
"I have received the message loud and clear and will not be wearing fur in the future.
"I apologise for my offensive actions."
The furore started when she was pictured on the cover of W magazine in what appeared to be reindeer fur.
Last week, her fansite was shut down and its owner posted a message explaining: "Offline due to fur usage."
After her apology Peta reportedly sent her a basket full of "cruelty-free goodies to thank her for her compassionate decision."
