'Grey's Anatomy', 'Lost' and 'Desperate Housewives' are among the hit series nominated for the 2007 Golden Globe Awards.

Both 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Lost' are nominated for Best Television Series (Drama) and are joined by '24', 'Big Love' and 'Heroes'.

'Grey's Anatomy' star Ellen Pompeo is nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series (Drama), with Edie Falco ('The Sopranos'), Patricia Arquette ('Medium'), Evangeline Lilly ('Lost') and Kyra Sedgwick ('The Closer') also making the shortlist.  

Pompeo's 'Grey's Anatomy' co-star Patrick Dempsey is nominated in the Best Actor in a Television Series (Drama) category and is joined on the shortlist by Michael C Hall ('Dexter'), Hugh Laurie ('House'), Bill Paxton ('Big Love') and Kiefer Sutherland ('24').

Katherine Hegl from 'Grey's Anatomy' is also nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

'Desperate Housewives', 'Entourage', 'The Office' (US), 'Ugly Betty' and 'Weeds' are the shows nominated for Best Television Series (Comedy or Musical).

Two of the stars of 'Desperate Housewives', Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman, are nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series (Comedy or Musical), with Julia Louis-Dreyfus ('The New Adventures of Old Christine'), America Ferrera ('Ugly Betty') and Mary-Louise Parker ('Weeds') completing the shortlist.

Alec Baldwin ('30 Rock'), Zach Braff ('Scrubs'), Steve Carrell ('The Office'), Jason Lee ('My Name Is Earl') and Tony Shalhoub ('Monk') are the nominees for Best Actor in a Television Series (Comedy or Musical).

There are also nominations for the acclaimed programmes 'Bleak House', 'Prime Suspect: The Final Act' and 'Elizabeth I' and their stars, Gillian Anderson ('Bleak House') and Helen Mirren ('Prime Suspect: The Final Act' and 'Elizabeth I').

The awards ceremony will be held on 15 January 2007.
